TENNIS CLUB NEWS V, Fast and furious play marked Friday Fri-day and Saturday's play in the Logan Lo-gan City doubles tennis tournament, Two rounds of tho tourney wero-played wero-played off bringing the competition , down to the finals which will be played play-ed off In the near future. Nelson and Wilson defeated Peterson Pet-erson and Jenkins 6-2, 6-4; Johnson and, Wilson beat 3-6, 6-4; Smith nnd Cooley took O. Eccles and Anderson on to tho dirge of G-2, 7C; Itams-pcrger Itams-pcrger and Itoblnson were scooped up by Smith and Pedersen 8-6, 0-4; These matches brought the playing down to the semi-finals which wero4 played off Saturday evening between Kelson and M. Wilson nnd Johnjn nnd V. Wilson which resulted G-2, 6-4 for Nelson and Wilson; and tho second match, Smith and Cooley beat P. Smith and Podereon 9-7, 8-3. It will bo noticed by the'Tcr:&r tio that the matches were as stated stat-ed abovc fast and furious. Many ot the sets ran to deuce and practical-.ly practical-.ly all of them woro close. The teams tare so evenly matched that such plt.y I was to bo expected. Many of the teams, like the proverbial bulldon, same back and hung on until me .t ; t was won after tho audience (specta- jp tors is a betted word) and even tl' jf umpire had left. The odds scorn to favor tho latter team slightly he-cause he-cause they havo had bomewhat more experionco than the Nelson-Wilson, combination, however, results will ahow and they may not be Just ni expected. |
