Show Milwaukee. "Yo"u know the repair re-pair man of motorcycle shop Is often of-ten a demonstrator and nearly always a speed bug," says H. J. Mueller, assistant as-sistant sales manager of the Harley-Davidson Harley-Davidson Motor Co. "Not long ago we had one of those lads, who Is employed em-ployed a dealer In an eastern city of some factory course In repairing Thinking to do a little missionary work, the sales department got hold of this bird one day and started to feed him a nice selling dope with a spoon. Among other things brought to his attention was the possibility of placing a, bunch of ,Harley-Davdsons with the police department or his city. He was assured that he was Just the man for the Job and If he could develop Into a good salesman he would be Just so much tnore valuable to his employer and stood a good chance of getting a raise In salary. It listened fine while It lasted, but It blew up when the embryo salcman burst out with: 'What! Me sell Harley-Davldsons to them guys and get pinched for speeding? Nix on that noise. Let 'em keep the ones they got. You can walk away from them.' And we had to stand there and see that' good selling point go to waste." |
