Show TO THE PHYSICANS OFLOGMITY At a meeting of the Board of City Commissioners on Monday evening the question of a more effective control con-trol ot contagious and Infectious diseases dis-eases within the city limits was taken tak-en up and discussed, and the practice of physicians reporting such cases to the BaaKary. Inannar who shall then quarantlMsiick) -diseases, and we were advised by the-Clty Attorney that under the laws of, this State and the ordinances ot the City, no person has a right to establish a. quarantine except upon the order of the Board ot Health or the duly appointed Health officer. Several cases of violation of quarantine quar-antine have been called to the attention atten-tion of tho officers and we have found ourselves unable to prosecute for tho reason that tho quarantine did not seem to have been established establish-ed In accordance with the law. Tho Board therefore came to the conclusion that a better policy was to follow the law and require all tho physicians In the city to report suspected sus-pected cases of contagious or Infectious Infec-tious diseases to tho City, Physician or tho Clerk of the Board of Health, Mr. William II. Larson. In view of the Importance ot tho matter we respectfully urge on all physicians to co-operato with us in the interest of public safety, and wo feel that physicians should not hesitate hesi-tate to report suspected cases, In. other oth-er words, tho public should be given Ce benefit of tho doubt. While the quarantine may In some Instances bo a hardship upon tho person quarantined, quaran-tined, yet as compared with tho public pub-lic safety and health the Inconvenience Inconveni-ence Is Insignificant and small. The Board has also decided to have an ordlnanco passed requiring all persons having knowledge of typhoid ty-phoid fever to report such cases as nearly as posslblo nt tho Inception of tho disease Wo aro doing this In order to be In a position to report officially to tho Stato Board ot Health, we have found In the past that Logan has been misrepresented as to her typhoid cases. In jail these matters we respectfully respectful-ly solicit the co-operation ot the medical med-ical fraternity, and wo assure you thnt wo wish to do nothing to handicap handi-cap any physician in tho practlco of his profession, we only dcslro to aid and co-operato in protecting tho health ot tho public, Yours truly, ROY BULLEN, Chairman Ot Tho Board Of Health. |
