Show CITY COUNCIL I OF DEFENSE :: KOLD MEETING At tho meeting of tho City Council Coun-cil of Defense held Wednoaday evening ev-ening tho following communication from tho Soldiers Welfare Committee" Commit-tee" was received: , ' ' Logan, Dec. 10, 1918 Logan City Council of Defense, Logan, Utah: Gentlemen: August 16, 1918, tho Soldiers Welfare Committee In compliance with a request from the military department de-partment of the S. A. T. C.of the Utah Agricultural College, passed a resolution to opn tho moving picture pic-ture houses on Sundays at specified hours. This resolution was adopted to meet an emergency and war measure. meas-ure. Now that tho members of tho S. A. T. C. has been discharged and tho emergency has passed we as a committee com-mittee hnvo no further lntorost in tho opening of the plcturo shows on Sundays. Howoll, Chairman At this mooting of tho City Coun cil of Defense tho following resolution resolu-tion was adopted: Whereas, tho City Council f Dc-fenno Dc-fenno on August 28, 1918, passed a motion recommending that the picture pic-ture shows bo oponed on Sundays as a war measure; and Whereas, the emorgency and tho necessity of the war measure appears ap-pears to have passed; and Therefore, we withdraw our former form-er recommendation that the picture shows hu oponed on Sundays. Mr. E. T. Lewis of the Red CroBs, E. R. Owen of the Commercial club, Mayor Roy Sullen and M. S. Eccles of the City Council of Detnse were asked to appoint a committee to welcome wel-come home and entertain the soldiers |
