Show FARMERS ADVISED TO STORE WHEAT On account of the delay In the movement move-ment of whent, which has been occasioned oc-casioned by the congestion of various terminal markets In the shipment of whent conalgpod to the Food Administration Adminis-tration Drain corporation, the state food administration advises farmers to store their wheat. The general policy of the food administration ad-ministration has been to purchase wheat rather than flour. The grata corporation, guaranteeing to take wheat on the basis of a fixed minimum tcrmlnnl market price, has been receiving receiv-ing most of the wheat entering the primary markets. Some days government govern-ment receipts have even exceeded 1000 cars at the principal grain centers. As the ocak-load was approaching It wns fdund tlmf the movement of wheat from the terminals was slower than Its receipt, and consequently a halt wns declared. The grain control committee handling the shipments of wheat for the food administration declared de-clared an embargo upon the wheat entering en-tering the primary markets. A few days later the permit system was adopted, and shippers must now file an application for a permit In order to make a shipment Permits are being granted rather slowly, as the problem of handling the vast accumulation of wheat at the terminals Is a great one. Country storage Is encouraged, and the grata corporation has already authorised certain' Utah elevators to store wheat on government account, the grain corporation purchasing the warehouse receipts. M. H. Greene, manager of the Salt Lake office, of the grain corporation, has received advices .that tho application applica-tion for a bond by the Vitamin company com-pany of Logan has been granted, allowing al-lowing this company to purchase wheat and store lt upon government account, the grain corporation purchasing purchas-ing the warehouse receipts Issued upon tho 200,000 bushels of wheat, which Is the capacity of the elevator, and allowing al-lowing the Vitamin company a nominal nomi-nal storage rate for holding the wheat. The Issue at hand Is of war-time significance and points to the fact that difficulties arc. encountered in. the handling of the food supply' as well as In combating the German army. On account of the price of wheat being be-ing standardized, farmers everywhere have- shown a disposition to releaso their wheat, and on an average, .half of the wheat of Utahjhas .already found n market, according to' the report re-port of Mr. Greene. The movement hna-'been very rapid In Tooele, Junb, and Utah counties on account of the carlv harvest season. |
