Show THE TAXPAYERS' LEAGUE GIVES ENTERTAINMENT Hyrum, Dec. 12.-Tho entertainment entertain-ment given by tho Taxpayors' League last Thursday evening was a vory onjoy.tblo affair for thoso present. t Thoprogrni was interesting and instructive Tho tnxpayers gleo club was present nnd entortalned tho audience aud-ience with sonio good singing nnd dancing stunts. Thcso woro a littlo I wild, but I would not give much for a person that did not havo a little Hfo' and fun In them. Tho music rendered by tho Ames boys was certainly fine, and It brought brou-ght us back to those good, old happy hap-py dnvs of yore. The best part of all was that everything wai free; overyono took their part well, nnd nil was appreciated, especially tho piano solo by Mr. C. Cannon. Mr. Peterson read tho resolutions recently passed by tho Taxpayers' League and they wero voted on and unanimously adopted by the meeting. meet-ing. Chairman O. II. Anderson gave a report of what tho League had done and could do to reduce our taxes, If wo wero but united and helped tho cause along. Tho Leaguo Is non-partisan, nnd Mr. Isrnelson, who was. nlso asked to speak, said that the wording of part of tho resolutions was hardly broad enough. They should bo made to tako in thoso professors who nro drawing largo salaries and are paying littlo or no taxes to help bear tho burdens of tho state. Itobort Baxter spoko of tho necessity neces-sity of a leaguo and said there was quite a number of states who woro doing tho samo thing, nnd had rtic-ceedod rtic-ceedod In reducing tho taxes considerably. con-siderably. Wo can do tho samo thing If tho peoplo will only unlto. Said wo will havo to kill thoso heavy burdens, bur-dens, or they will kill us. Ho snld further that these entertainments wero to bo given In evory town In tho county, to make tho peoplo acquainted ac-quainted with tho facts that this subject sub-ject was of stato wido interest. Tho govornor nnd tho leglslaturo are with us. Now lot us got busy anil tell them what wo want and got I. Credit Is duo Bishop Facer nnd Janitor Anthonson for the Intorcst they took In the nintter of hoatlug tho houso and making ovoryono fool comfortnblo on such a cold night. It II. |
