Tho B first train bearing supplies to Gen- B cral Pershing's troops at tho front U will probably leave Juarez some time H tomorrow. Immediately on receipt of tho nows from Washington that Gen-oral Gen-oral Carranza had pormltted tho uso of tho Northwestern railroad for tho sending of supplies, final preparations were rushed by tho quartermaster's department for tho forwarding of forage, for-age, food supplies, ond gasoline . Tho1 limitations Imposed by General Gener-al Carranza, confining shipments to goods sent to concerns In Mexico who have contracts with tho expeditionary expedi-tionary forco, caused somo disappointment disap-pointment among army ofllcers. It was feared that these restrictions, coupled with tho fact that military guards could not accompany tho trains might seriously hamper the transmission of an ndequato stream of supplies. The Northwestern lines between hero and Casas Grandes, near which town General Porshlng has established establish-ed his principal baso In Mexico, aro admittedly In a bad way. Almost all tho bridges which spanned tho numerous num-erous arroyos, or gulches, between tho two towns, hayo been burned by tho bands of brigands who havo roved rov-ed through this country during tho last two years. These bridges havo not been repaired, but temporary tracks havo been laid on Improvised roadbeds In the gulches themselves. Theso tracks cannot stand any ver heavy traffic and mako the progress of tho trains very slow. |
