Show Alleged Intruder Is Overpowered Owner of Land In Question Disarms Claimant and Causes Arrest niackfoot, Idaho., April 27. An argument growing out of a misunderstanding misun-derstanding of tho rights to riparian lands ended In a scuffle hero In which J. I. Stewart, owner of tho land In question declares ho took two revolvers revolv-ers from a man named Rice, whom ho considered an Intruder nnd drovo him from the land. Bystanders said more serious troublo probably was averted when Stewart who says Rico pointed a revolver nt him, grasped tho arm of Rice, nnd knocking the gun from him, grappled with him nnd overpowered Rice A man named Cheney Che-ney who accompanied Rico to the disputed dis-puted property, took no part in the quarrel. The young son of Mr, Stowart picked up tho revolver his father knocked from Rice's hand and covered cov-ered Rico when ho says he saw Rico was making an effort as If to draw, another gun from his pocket. When Mr. Stowart had taken both guns he ordered Rice from the land and has tened to Blnckfoot, whero he sworo to a complaint charging Rico with carrying concealed weapons and threatening to uso them. Rico was arrested. The trouble Is said to bo tho second sec-ond tlmo Rice has attempted to maRo riparian )try on the land. |
