Out of his hearing, Prof. Oren Root was called "Cube Root," and one son, Senator Root's brother, who succoeded his father as professor profes-sor of mathematics, was facetiously called "Squar Root" appropriate and yet loving titles for men eminent emi-nent in the study of mathematics.
