Show Works Of Utah Artist Now On Public Public Display Display A collection of pictures by Mary Alary Teasdale a Utah artist is now on display in the north end of the art gallery Miss is a former resident of Utah and Is one of the best known artists in the country She is now a resident of Los Angeles and recently sent a group of her paintings to Mrs George H. H Horne Home It is by her courtesy that the collection is here for the school to see After the exhibit here Mrs Horne Home will hold an exhibItion exhibition exhibition ex ex- at her home Mary spent the early part of or her life in Utah Later she went to Europe where she was a pupil at the famous school of Michiel Michiel Michiel Mi- Mi chiel Whistler However due to the unreliability of the Instructor in at attending attending at- at tending his classes the thc school was soon closed She then attended a awell awell well known art school In latter years she made another trip to Europe to secure the finishing touches to her technique During her stay in Europe her work was hung in the Paris Salon where it received a great deal of favorable comment She made a speciality of ot minera- minera tures in both oil and water colors colors- The pictures she painted under the influence of Whistler were low toned and were of the interior But the recent ones which are on display display display dis dis- play are full of life color and light and are mostly of outdoor effects The subjects are from Utah and California One particular picture picture picture pic pic- ture Spring is done in oil and portrays an orchard of plum and The Thc critics pronounce this a very fine study In the same corner of the gallery gallery gallery gal gal- lery is a group of four oils done by Miss Ludeen Christensen of Gun- Gun gison Miss Christensen studied in Paris at the time Whistler was dominating the field of art On her return to this country she taught school in California for eight years Her themes are depressing pressing d and have havea a general sadness in the treatment These will be displayed with those of Mary Teasdale |
