Harris of tho Utah Agricultural College calls attention to tho announcement of tho commltteo on arrangements of tho Interstate Conference of Cereal Investigations. Tho undersigned commltteo on arrangements ar-rangements respectfully announce thnt on May 25-29, 1915, an Interstate Conference) on Investigations ot Cereals Ce-reals will bo held In California. This proposed conference is the outgrowth ot suggestions and expressed desires on the part of many investigators for n number ot years that suth a con ferenco bo held for tho purpose of conferring on tho various phases of nil cereal research, but particularly thoso whoro difficult problems concern Ing which thero Is difference of opinion, opin-ion, different methods of work, different dif-ferent points of attack and considerable consider-able variation to results, in order that theso differences may bo better understood by each other and that nil such Invcstlgntlons bo moro coordinate coordi-nate and offeetivo hereafter. It scorns that tho fact that thero aro no other meetings at that tlmo of conflict with this ono and tho fact that It Is near harvest tlmo in that region would bo much In favor of having tho conforenco at tho tlmo stated. It is realized that tho time may ho inopportune for somo nnd that many ln the eastern part of tho United Uni-ted States will not bo ablo to nttend. It is hoped, however, that oven thoso In tho East thero may bo certain ones who would any way visit California Cali-fornia nbout that tlmo and would avail themselves of tho opportunity to tako part in tho Conference It is hoped nnd expected that thero will bo a good attendance from tho territory terri-tory west of tho Mississippi river. A numbor have already signified their intention of being present and have submitted titles ot papers. Tho arrangements aro: to meet at Merced, Tuesday, May 25, for a field Inspection ,of the San Joaquin Val-loy Val-loy cereals, go to Derkcloy tho evening even-ing of tho same day and begin the conference proper tho morning of tho 2Ctlr n't .the University ot Call fomla; continue tho program tho noxt day at tho Stato Experimental Farm at Davel and finish tho day with an inspection of tho farm; then go to Chlco In tho evening or tho noxt morning nnd visit tho Plnnt Introduction Introduc-tion Oardon of tho 'United States Do-' partment of Agriculture on tho 2Sth. During tho samo day thoso who wish will go by automobile to Wggs to inspect in-spect tho Rico Experiment Fnrm at that placo. Thatday will end tLV Conforenco, nfter which tho Individual Individu-al delegates will spend bucIi other tlmo and go to such other points within with-in tho stnto as thoy dcslro. Problems of Pacific coast wheat production. u- 2. Improvement of barloy for the Pacific coast. 3. Problems In cereal smuts. 4. Grading, milling, malting nnd baking. 5.
