Show RUNNING O ON PAST ST RECORDS I Many of the freshman students seem to be unaware of the fact that they are now at the University ty and have college standards tp live up to They seem to think that we are exceedingly interested in their high school achievements and anci other glories earned in their younger days They parade the campus splattered with a collection of pins that well might arouse the envy of an any pawn shop The star athletes of some mighty high school team display their lettered sweaters sweat sweat- sweaters ers with ith the a air ar r and importance of a new second lieutenant The wiser and more unassuming students of the school cannot help but sit back bacI and smile at atthe atthe atthe the sophisticated acts of the freshman On the faculty code at the University there is a ruling which prohibits the wearing of high school emblems on the University campus So as a matter of upholding an existing ruling this practice c should be discontinued But something more than merely the up holding of the present ruling which should be the cause for the removal of high school emblems Past achievements will not help out the University No iatter catter how good a player a man may have been in high school he is of no material asset to the University University Uni Uni- if he is not now engaging in activities No matter how ho many offices a person may have held elsewhere elsewhere else else- where h he is dead timber here onless he is actively engaged engaged engaged en en- in the interests of at his present school Honors and glories gathered elsewhere are useless here Unless unless unless un un- less the talents which won those honors are arp now devoted de- de voted to the whole-hearted whole support of University endeavors If the new students would forget their supposed personal importance and get down to work and do something they would have less time to show v others their hc r billboard display of past mighty deeds It is always the tile active and earnest workers that are modest and una unassuming suming while the loafers and humbugs resort to such cheap methods of advertising to keep themselves in the public eyes |
