Considerable interest in-terest is being taken In tho waterworks water-works bond election which will como beforo the voters In this city beforo a great whilo. Already tho now city board has commenced to do things in this regard. A survoyor from Og-den Og-den is already on tho ground and Is going over tho routo of tho proposed line. It Is tho Intention of tho board In tho event that tho bond election elec-tion carries to acquire tho waters of ntrch Springs, or so much that is necessary. This body of water gushes out in a great stream from a face of solid rock, and for purity and softness tt cannot bo equaled. Tho point of commencement Is twelvo miles from Preston and it Is proposed to pipe tho water, using wooden stavo pipe, to a' retaining reservoir somewhoro abovo tho city. From this' point it is tho intention in-tention to'plpo into Preston, commencing commenc-ing with a 12 Inch plpo-and tapering down to a four inch, b A tho time tho city Is reached. ' , ' Thcro has been no approximate cost as yet, but it is believed $75,000 will cover tho whole cost, mains and all. It has been figured that the cost of pipo and laying, would roach somewhere some-where In tho neighborhood of $3,000 n mile. With tho gravity which this Bystem would hao, and Its contemplated contem-plated mode of construction, It would glvo this city such a water system that could not bo equaled anywhere. The avidity with which tho people are taking hold of this- proposition, seems to lend tho air of success. Thero may bo a fow large proporty owners, who wish to still remain mossbacks, and who want to hold tho town back as much as possible. If a water system of this naturo can bo established hero, Preston, as a suburban residence towu should grow at a rapid rate. Tho recent road bond election result cannot bo definitely dccldod until an offical count is made, and It Is a question ques-tion whether tboy hnvo carried by any large majority. Malad, of course, went 200 majority for tho bonds and Preston and American Falls barely gavo a majority. Pacbton, May 23. Last night the Oneida Stnko Academy closed n very successful school year, having the largest number of students at tho close of the year. Thero wero 43 graduates from difforcnt courses. Tho track meet Saturday was won by tho Fourth years, who took 2C out of a possible 41 points. The ball garuo was won by tho 11. Y. C. aftor a closoly fought gamo. The addresses dellvorcd by Judgo Mnthonlhnh Thomas Sunday evening, and by Prof. John Henry Evans Ev-ans Monday evening to tho graduato3 on tho value of a church high school graduato and of Pros.
