Fhe hundred Utah people today found tholr way to tbe Rrooklyn navy yards, where the battleship Utah was at home In her war paint, and witnessed tho ceremonies ceremon-ies attending the presentation of the silver service of 122 pieces donated by the people of Utah to the state's naval namesake. Governor William Spry went aboard tho Utah from a yacht at 10:30 this morning. "As the pioneers blazed tho way In the west," ho said. "I hopo you will help blazo tho way to a hotter, higher civilization. "This scrvfeo has been contributed to by 30,000 school child! en whoso hearts are with this ship nnd whoso oyes will bu upon It through its entire life." Captain William S. MIbs Hazel Tout was given the honor hon-or of uncovering tho silver service and performed her task In such n sweet and dainty way that sho won the hearts of all tho officers. A stand of colors was prevented by Misses Lydla White, Mamlo Summers and Wunda-Lyon. Tho colcis were a present from the Utah Society of Sons of the American Revolution. At Governor Spry's reuest Mr. D. S. 8penccr, a member of that society, delivered the presentation address. Tho acceptance speech for the navy was made by Captain Benson. Tho colors from tho Utah Grand Army of the Republic and Spanish War Veterans were presented by Misses Mis-ses Edna Evans, Pearl Wcllcr and Mrs. Clifford Young, on whose behalf R. W. Young, Jr, made a well worded Bpeech. In accepting the colors Lieutenant Butler suld that ono ofthc officers, Lieutenant Pearson, was born In Utah and that he had known the Utah battery bat-tery In the Philippines, He complimented compli-mented them and their commander, Richard W. Young, whose son had Just spoken, on their valiant work and suggested that the crew give three cheers for the visitors. The crew responded vigorously, after which the band and tbe choir rendered render-ed the "Star-Spangled Banner." Asks for Copies of 8ong. Captalu Benson thanked tbe choli for thslr singing of "Utah, We Love Thee," which had been specially ar-langod ar-langod by Professor Stephens to apply ap-ply to tho battleship. He requcstedcop-les requcstedcop-les of It for the band and crew of the battleship. Profeasor Stephens promised prom-ised this and also promised a march to be dedicated to tho lads of Utah. The choir left immediately for tho afternoon performance at Madison Square Garden, but the other visitors remained' and partooK of a delicious lunch In the officers' ward room.
