Show JUSTIFICATION. Heretofore there has been, little friction between Salt Lako City and Logan. Loganltes and Cacho Valley people generally have been proud of the capital or Zlon and have been pleased with any progresss man!-rested man!-rested there. The capital or any state should bo Its pride and much is usually sacrlllced by the state at largo that Its capital may be a thing or beauty and a city worthy or ravorablo comment. However, no capital city has a right to suck the lire blood of its state, no right to demand all that there is, no right to sacrifice tho state's educational Interests merely for Its own aggrandizement. Least of all 'has It the right to misrepresent actual conditions in regard to itself or some other city in order to attain its desired end. It is a fact that friends of the University Uni-versity In this tight have permitted their friendship to get out of all bounds, all reason, so that misrepresentation misrepre-sentation In every conceivable way has been the rule rather than the exception. ex-ception. From the convening of tho legislature members of committees, professors and business men, poured into the cars of legislators statements that were without foundation. The growth and worth of the A. 0. of U., tho cost of maintenance of certain courses, the positions held by graduates grad-uates and their number, the extraordinary extraor-dinary advantages of a consolidation at Salt Lake, all came In for the basest misrepresentation, so that President Kerr, various professors and a whole Cache Valley contingent round it almost impossible to stem the tide against us. Considering these things, Salt Lake city can haidly bo surprised ir in the future Logan re-talatcs re-talatcs not In the same dlshonorablo manner, but as sharply. Tho friends of the University, or lather the enemies of tho A. C, insist that the loss of this light means only that It will be begun again and kept up until this school is saciltlccd. Tho people of the north and tho stato at largo should accept tho challenge and begin now to prepare for battle. |
