Show A CHANGE IN THE C.C. CLUB Joel Ricks Made Secretary And Manager. New Manager Is Trying To Stir Up Interest. At a recent meeting of tho Hoard of Dlrcctois of the Cache Commercial Club, Joel Hicks was elected secretary and manager of the club, to succeed Fred Scholui, who resigned some time ago. Mr Kicks hasalready assumed control con-trol and, has started out enthusiastic-allv enthusiastic-allv to get hold of Information that Is exceedingly desirable In caso the club is to be of any real use. Mr. Hicks has ever been enthusiastic In tho work of the club and as head of the Committee Com-mittee on Transportation has sought to secure from the county business men the amount of freight they have brought in yearlv. It has been tho hope of the club, and of this committee commit-tee particular!) , that Logan might be made a common point In the matter of freight rates and this information is very greatly desired. Mr. Hicks has sent out numberless letters and expects ex-pects to get the necessary returns soon Some Statistics. One of the mo-t valuable and necessary nec-essary features of the club work Is the securing of all available statistics In regard to the ciops of the valley, land values, power that can be utilized, In fact all kinds of Information regarding regard-ing our resouices, the Inducements we have to set before those who may In-quire. In-quire. Tho Commercial Club must bo a dispenser, of accurate information regarding this city and valley in case It Is to be of set vice. Mr. Hicks hopes to stir some Interest along this line. For A Library. The new manager is also Interested in securing a public library and reading read-ing room as an adjunct to the club. He Is alieady In possession of promises of a large number of volumes from this, that and the other person mil believes that the club could well afford af-ford to add curient fiction to Its alieady al-ieady good list of stable periodicals, monthlies, weeklies, dailies, etc. A lirst class reading room would certainly certain-ly prove of value. Possibilities of Club. Tho Cache Commcrlcal Club will find that It can be of great service in the future If It is not forgotten that it is essentially an organisation for business purposes. That the club Is not contlnously engaged In astrcnuous eirort r.o land something Is not necessarily neces-sarily Indicative of a lack of Interest, or that the club is of little service. As long as the organization Is In existence exis-tence and docs that work which rightly right-ly comes before It from time to tlmo it must neccssaiily be a success. As long as tho organisation is in existence tho members cair be called together on very short notice and when prompt action is necessary it can be taken with 'the least possible vvasto of time. Tho club's endorsement of this, that or the other contemplated move of county or city olllclals should and will have Its weight, and in countless ways tho club can and will be of service. ser-vice. Tne club has done very excellent work up to this time, and In tho future, as It becomes better acquainted acquaint-ed with Us own strength aqd opportunities, oppor-tunities, It will do greater things.
