Show A BIG DOUBLE FUNERAL AT BAKER CITY, OREGON Carrie Birdneau and a Friend Laid to Rest in Baker City. Tiik Rki'lmi.iuan Is In receipt of copies of the Raker City Democrat detailing the death and burial of Mrs. Horace II. Ryder, nee Can le lllrdneau. It appears that Mrs. Ryder was operated oper-ated on for appendicitis, after which peritonitis set In and her death ic-suited ic-suited on Friday, May ft. The Democrat Demo-crat says that the lady was twenty-two twenty-two years of age, had been married but live months, was held In the very highest esteem and that her death Is mourned by a host of friends. It Is also detailed that one Mabel Prolltt Dooley, an Intimate associate of Mrs. Ryder, was burled the same day. The Democrat says of the funeral: "A pall of gloom rested over the city yesterday and even the weather dropped tears In sympathy with a sorrowing public assembled to lay away in their last resting places, Carrie Rirdncau Ryder and Mabel Prolltt Dooley. Never before In tho history of Raker City was there so general respect shown to any of Its departed members. Roth ladles were In apparent health and a week, ago were out horseback riding together.
