Mrs. 1.1 n a Chambers, of York, Nob, and Mary Rcnkcs, tho 12-year-old dnughter of Charles Rcnkes of Boulder, Boul-der, Colo., wero drowned In Boulder creek Thursdny. They wero part of a party camping In Bummer gulch, six miles Inim Boulder. Without any warning a wall of wator, caused by a cloudburst, camo rushing down tho gulch, carrying tho tent and tho Inmates In-mates Into the creek. Somo of tho campers wero thrown upon rocks or to tho opposllo shoro of tho creek. Mrs. Chambers and Mary Rcnkes wero carried Into tho stream by tho torrent of wnter and drowned. Their bodies, badly brulbcd, wero found somo dlstnuco down tho stream later. Tho storm which caused tho cloud-hurts cloud-hurts did considerable damngo In tho mining camps on Sugar Loaf mountain moun-tain and In the neighborhood of Ward. At tho latter plaeo tho ground was covered with hall to a depth of six Inches. |
