Show Political Melange. In order to head otl the nomination of Aqulla Nebeker for governor by the democratic State convention, which will be held this summer, that portion of the mugwump element of the party represented by the Herald, is circulating circulat-ing a rumor to the effect that Quit Is not a candidate. That no one has authority au-thority to aunouce his candidacy. That Is one of the despicable ways the small fraction alluded to has of trying to Injure Nebeker's chances. Truth reiterates that Nebeker Is a candidate; tliat he is going to make the race; that his friends are working for him with his full knowledge and consent and that at this writing it looks as If he would win the nomination hands down. Truth. Goicinor Wells left Salt Lake for Washington City a few dajs ago. In wilting of the Goiernor's disposition iniegaidtoa third term Goodwin's Weekly wys: "Mr. Wells beforo his departuie announced to Intimate fiiends that the nomination would be very agieeable to him, although it is considered ptobablc by friends of both that if he and Hammond enter the convention as candidates; the weaker will wilhdiaw- in favor of the convention's conven-tion's apparent choice. Mr. Wells' chief ambition Is to be United States Senator, and his friends, and piobably his excellency concuis, state that as the Smoot case will not be definitely decided until next December, and possibly pos-sibly consldciably later than that, the governor cannot afford, without harard to his political aspirations, to withdiaw from the public view.
