Show Church Matters. Logan, July 10th, 100.1. Editor Republican: I was somewhat impressed while reading the article in a former issue relative to business men attending churches In the East. The conditions existing here aie very similar. 1 bcllce In attending meetings, and am corn Inced that all men would be prepared to live better lives by the strict observance of the Sabbath day, and to attend the church of their choice. I also believe that those having hav-ing charge of religious gatherings should be careful in seeing that nothing noth-ing whatever Is injected Into the services ser-vices that would not be In keeping with the Intent of the assembly. I desire not to be considered presumptuous presumpt-uous in stating that I have seen the good effects of many sermons spoiled by notices being given out, or perchance per-chance some person following the sermon with remarks that were entirely en-tirely irrelevant to the occasion. If notices must be announced In such gatherings, let it be done at tho opening open-ing of tho services. When the skcak-eror skcak-eror speakers arc through, after a convening of one and a half hours, dismiss dis-miss meetings and let the people dissemble dis-semble with the good things upon their minds which they have heard, the same furnishing food for reflection. reflec-tion. Do not under any consideration have the effects of sermons marred in any sense whateer. I honesty believe, without desiring to crltlre, that if a little more care Is taken along these lines with our meetings, more of the active business men would attend them. The end desired to be gained Is worthy of tho effort. A Business Man. |
