Tho preacher was discoursing dis-coursing about prevalent popular vices. Soon ho exclaimed. "Whero Is tho drunkard?" Tho drunken man was just far enough gone to think tho call personal, so, rising heavily, replied : "Hero I am," and remained standing while tho drunkard's character and fato wero eloquently portrayed. A few minutes later the preacher reached another an-other head of his discourse, and asked: "Where Is tho hypocrlto?" Gently nudging his neighbor, tho drunkard said, In an audlhla whisper: "Stand up, deacon; ho means you this time. Stand up and tako It liko a man, Just as I stand! It will do you good." |
