Show NEW FACTORY AT LEWISTON Residents of that Place Expect to Secure Sugar Factory. Thoic arc well authenticated rumors alloat to the clTect that a sugar factoiy is to be ctcctcdat Lew is-ton, is-ton, and the tumors arc substantiated, in away, by teccnt teal estate deals in that vicinity. In the past tew dajs Mlchcal Stanley, Isaau Smith, Uilah , Hrowcr, George Allred and Samuel 8r Allen liave disposed of their land, and ' it confidently believed that It has been bought for a syndicate composed of Mcssts. Chas. .Nlbley and Thomas Cutler, Ptcsldents Geo. C. Parkinson Parkin-son and Win. II. Lewis, and others. The land putchased amounts to about 1200 acres, and the price paid ranges from $50 to $90 per acie. The Lewis-ton Lewis-ton people believe that the above named syndicate will erect a sugar factory there and arc feeling quite jubilant ocr their prospects The beet ralsets In that vicinity hae had grievances with the factory at this place, and without desiring that this plant be Injured, will bo more than pleased to have another factory, and that one in their midst. Nor would the erection of a factory in Lcwlston materially allect the Logan factory, for the people south of Lcwlston can furnish plenty of beets for the factory here if not at present, at least when they become convinced that beet raising is the best paying business in' which a Cache valley fanner can engage. The farmers here will reach this conclusion eventually, Just as" they havo in Weber and Utah counties. While farmers in those counties raised gtain and bought expensive machinery, the'' remained poor, but since the advent of the sugar factories, those farmcis who ""9 have, jearln and year out, staid by the sugar beet industty aic no iear of mottgages and with their sons have deposits in the bank. Investigation will prove the tiuth of this assertion. Hut if you want to make anything out of beets, jou must stick by the proposition. Raising a dlffctcnt pi oduct must each year necessitates a change 6f farming Implements, which usually means a latgc out-lay and besides, a man who dabbles with this that and the other seldom ever becomes a specialist; his energies arc not concentrated con-centrated and as a result he works to a serious disadvantage. If jour wheat and other ptoducts are not paying you, get Into the beet business and stick with it. Don't give it a round and then drop It because at the tirst effort the business is not up to jour expectations. Remember that there is something to learn about beet talsing, and that it has been demonstrated that this valley is specially adapted to two things, beet raising and dairying. The man who sticks with cither must necessarily win out, providing ho puts eneigy and Intelligence Into his efforts. |
