Williams, an American miner at Co. rlnto, sought refuge on board tho Pacific Mall steamship City of Panama, Pan-ama, which has arrived In San Fran, clsco, and was carried by her to La Union, Salvador. Wlllalms had been a prisoner In tho hands of tho Nlcar-nguans Nlcar-nguans for threo months, and was ro. leased at tho Instnnco om tho United States consul general at Managua, tho capital of Nicaragua. His arrest, ho declared, was a pro. toxt to onablo tho Nlcarnguan government govern-ment to reclaim n valuable gold ralno ho discovered near San Fornando, and to which ho secured titlo beforo tho Nlcnraguans wero awaro of tho valuo of tho property. Williams, when ho left tho city of Panama, declared that within a week ho would bo on his way to Guatemala City to lay his caso beforo United States Minister Hunter or his representatives.
