Show I ESSAY PRIZES I. ARF; AWARDED T Through tho U. A. C. Woman's club the Utah Federation of Woman's clubs offered a prlzo of a gold pin for the best essays on "Mother" written by a seenth or eighth grade pupil, tht'BO pilzes to bo nwarded at the school exercises celebrating Mothers' Mo-thers' Day. The pupils In our seventh sev-enth and olghth grades handed in a line lot of essays. It was impossible for the Judges to decldo which was tne better essay tho one written by Irene Ricks or the one by Wa.tcr Darratt. When Mr. Lelloy Cardon tho public spirited president of our Commercial Boosters club heard of the committees predicament ho solved the difficulty by generously offering another prlzo. So Walter Barratt was awarded the gold tie pin given by the Cardon Jewelry company and Irene Ricks received the gold pin given giv-en by the Utah Federation of Women's Wom-en's clubs r Both of these excellent essays wilt be read at the Mother's Day exercises at the Tabernacle on Sunday afternoon. |
