C, whoso arrival preceded, that of Commissioner Gen. of Immigration Im-migration Anthony Caminottl, now inspecting immigration stations on the Pacific coast. Immigration Commissioner White declined to comment on tho Seattle. changes, which Include tho assignment assign-ment of Inspectors Thomas M. Fisher Fish-er and Georgo II. Patterson, who havo worked exclusively on white slave cases, to regular work watching incoming in-coming steamers and trains for un desirable aliens. Tho reorganization also Involves Thomas L. Lynch who has been doing offlce. work in connection connec-tion with white, slave cases, and Is now assigned to watching Incoming boats. Special Agent Taylor, whllo not committing tho administration to tho restricted policy of prosecutions of Mann act violations, is said to havo mado it plain in conversations with federal officials that personally ho bolloved tho Mann act had been ton rigidly construed nnd that many actions ac-tions brought under it woro without real merit. Further evidence of a change in policy toward white slave prosecution 'was contained In District Attorney Allen's statement that it was his opinion the wholesale prosecutions under tho act would cease for tho present at least, and that the department depart-ment of Justice would confine Itself to cases involving foreign countries.
