Homer Elected to Principalship. Home Economics , ' On New Basis. As wo announced In Saturday's Issue Is-sue of this paper, the Utah Agricultural Agricul-tural collego board of trustees met and disposed ot a number of matters of Interest to tho school and tho public pub-lic generally. There wcro nlno ot the thirteen members of tho board in attendance Including the follow Ing: President Lorenzo N. Stohl, Thomas Smart, Joseph Qufnney Jr., J. M. Peterson of Richfield; Mrs. Elizabeth McCune, Mrs. Hazel Dun-ford, Dun-ford, and Oeorgo T. Odell of 'Salt Lake; Angus M. Wright of Ogden and David Mattson, secretary ot stato. Tho board reorganized with the samo ofllcers as last year, Lorenzo Loren-zo N. Stohl, president; Mrs. Elizabeth Eliza-beth McCune, vice president; 'John T. Calne, secretary and auditor. Tho recommendations for changes and additions to the faculty made by President John A. Wldtsoo wcro all adopted. Prof. Roy F. Homer was chosen to take the principalship ot the Dranch Agricultural school at Cedar City. President Linford was elected to head tho department of correspondence) courses ot tho college. col-lege. Dr. George R. Hill, a graduate gradu-ate of Cornell University who at the present time Is employed at the Mis- v soun botanical gardens will succeed Dr. C. N. Jensen. A. H . Saxer who takes his doctor's degreo at the University of California, Califor-nia, will become professor ot mathematics. mathe-matics. Prof. J. W. Jensen will re-tiro re-tiro with tho closo of tho year and engago In private work In engineering. engineer-ing. He has been with tho U. A. 0. teaching force for the past four or flvo years and Is now retiring from school work. Prof. V. E. Carroll was given a leave ot absence for ono year. He will attend tho University Univers-ity of Illinois next season. Tho Homo Economics department of' tho Institution has been placed on a new basis,. Instead of ono thero will now be three departments-" domestic arts, home construction and sanitation, sanita-tion, and dietetics. Mrs. Rhoda IJ. Cook will have charge of tho domestic domes-tic arts work, with Blanche Cooper In chargo of the work of homo construction con-struction and sanitation. There Is yet to be found a woman to take charge of tho -work 'In dle'tettcs? Dr. C. W. Porter will still contlnuo his work bb teacher in chemistry and will havo administrative chargo of tho home economics department. Dr. Frank West was elected director of the school of general science. |
