Kloyd Allen, leader of the outlaw band In Carroll county, was executed In the state penitentiary this afternoon. When the courtroom was examined later It was found that moro than 200 shots had been fired. Twenty-seven Twenty-seven shots took effect upon those killed or wounded. Foster, was found guilty of first degrco murder on May 17, nnd sentenced to death. Claudo Allen, his son, was tried on a charge of killing Judge Masslo, and convicted of murder mur-der In tho second degree. The Jury rccommonded a sentenco of 15 years In tho ponltontiary. Friel Allen pleaded guilty of murder mur-der in tho second degreo nnd on Aug. 14 wns sentenced to 18 yenrB in prison. pri-son. Thrco days later Sldna Edwards Ed-wards pleaded guilty to a llko charge and wns given a sentence of fifteen years. Victor Allen wn8 acquitted of n charge of having participated in tho murders. Sldna Allen, brother of Floyd Allen Al-len and recognized leader or the clan and his nephew, Wesley Edwards, eluded pursuit for many weeks, and eventually escaped out of the Virgin-la Virgin-la mountains and made tholr way out wost. They were captured at Do Moines, Iowa, Sept 14, as tho result of a lovo affair of young Edwards. A letter from him was lost by Maud Trolor of Mount Airy, N. C, and detective de-tective followed its Information and captured the two men. Sldna Allen waa placed on trial Nov. 11 at Wythovllle, Va, charged with tho murder of Judge Massle. |
