Peterson and u number of tho memboia of tho extension ex-tension faculty left Logan for Rich-field Rich-field Tuesday morning In preparation for tho big roundup and housekeepers' housekeep-ers' conference which opens thero this morning. Tho demand for moro work along tho lino In which tho Agricultural Collego is laboring has becomo so Insistent In-sistent from the central and southern south-ern portion of tho state that this year It has been found necesary to lnaugurato a second roundup and housekeepers conference and Richfield Rich-field was selected as tho Btratlglcal point for such a gathering. Tho progressive pro-gressive farmers and somo of the most prominent women In that section sec-tion of tho stato have been laboring incessantly In making preparations for tho event and tho Information brought back by thoso who havo been visiting thero Is to tho effect that practically every town In central cen-tral and southern Utah will bo represented rep-resented by ono or moro delegates at tho gathering this coming week, Pres. John A. Wldtsoo and Dr. II. J. Frederick left hero Wednesday Wednes-day morning to attend tho gathering and thoy were Joined at Salt Lako City by Hon. D. W. Working who Is In chargo of tho department of farm management under tho fedoral government gov-ernment for Utah, Colorado and Wyoming. A car load of cholco cattle, also bo-longing bo-longing to tho Agricultural College left horo Monday morning and in addition ad-dition to this display thero will bo two car loads of prlzo winners from Sanpete- county to bo on exhibition during tho entlro week. Tho programs pro-grams will follow closely along tho lines carried out by tho collego during dur-ing tho roundup and housekeepers conferenco recently closed hero and somo of the best known authorities In tho stato havo been secured to discuss tho various topics. Tho recent announcement In tho press of tho dcslro felt by tho residents resi-dents of that Bcctlon of tho stato for tho Institution of a branch of tho Ag rlcultural college at nichfleld Is tho best evidence of tho interest which tho pcoplo thero aro manifesting In tho work which tho Agricultural Collego hero Is doing at present. Among othor things thoy cite Cacho Continued on I'ago Eight ALL ABOARD FOR RICHFIELD Continued from Pago Ono valley's wonderful progress under tho stimulus of th0 Agricultural .Col-lego .Col-lego ns an evidonco might accnio,,to that section of tho stnte, provldod such an Institution should bo established estab-lished there. Tho feasibility of such a proposition, howover, Is open to discussion nnd what tho outcomo will bo Is ns yet hnrd to conjecture. Another Item that Is mooting with popular npprovnl Is tho suggestion on tho part of the bureau of plant Industry of cstabllshlng-exports In every county throughout tho cntlro United States who will bo qunlliled to assist tho farmers within. ...the counties In solving their Immedlato problems. This work, howover, Is nt present only In Its Inclploncy and is dependent nbsolutoly upon the appropriation ap-propriation which It Is hoped will bo mado by tho present national congress con-gress provlnlng for this depnrtmenL Numerous counties In other states of tho union havo already mado application ap-plication for such nsslstanco from tho federal government and th0 proposal pro-posal is that as fast as the state or counties manifest sufficient Intorost to agree to establish a permanent fund to assist In this work and make such application nnd presentation to the federal government, tho government govern-ment will respond as quickly as posslblo pos-slblo with Its portion of tho required funds. Tho ultimate advantages of such a proposition can be readily understood un-derstood by all. As the present Is n day of deeds and not of words the farmer in lino with men In other branches of industry Is becoming rather ra-ther Impatient with the purely theoretical theo-retical features and is desirous of being thrown Into Immediate contact with tho man who can show him tho where and th how, and it Is with the purpose of fuinilllng such a mis-slon mis-slon that this new department Is being be-ing created. |
