Show NO MORE HEARINGS ON THE 8CHEDULE8 Democratic Members of Senate Finance Fin-ance Committee Decide Shall Be None After Tuesday Washington, May 21. Democratic members ot tho senate finance committee com-mittee decided today, to near no more manufacturers on tho schedules of the Underwood bill after next Tuesday Tues-day and then begin actual work of revising tho bill. Chairman Simmons was authorized to make that announcement and he Issued the following statement: "Tho Democratic members of the finance coramltteo of tho senate desire de-sire that all persons who wish to confer con-fer with the subcommittees with reference ref-erence to the schedules referred to them should do. so before the close of next Tuesday. After then the subcommittee sub-committee will begin the work of actually ac-tually framing the schedules." Senator Simmons added that no Individual members of the committee could spare any further timo listening listen-ing to manufacturers, and that all who wish to be heard must apply to the various subcommittees. After next Tuesday the committee expects to complete tho bill In four days or In time to report to tho full committee commit-tee the following Monday. Then the Democratic caucus win bo called. Chairman Simmons believes now that, the bill will bo ready for tho senate by Juno 7. Tho cutting off of hearings will not stop tho filing of briefs which will bo received until tho coromitteo completes com-pletes tho bill. To Amend Senate Rules Senator Owen after a visit to tho White House announced tliat ho expected ex-pected to Introduce a resolution to amend the senate rules to prevent dilatory di-latory debate and filibuster. Senator Owen Insisted he did not propose a "cloture" rule which would arbitrarily arbitrar-ily close the channels of discussion at a fixed time, but that It was his Intention to present such a. measure as would allow tho majority to close debate when It believed It dilatory or being carried on merely for purposes of delay.
