Arthur Budge of Paris, Idaho, Elected President of the Association. Eighty,- Fifih Anniversary Passes Away Most Pleasantly. President Wllllajn Budge was the recipient ot congratulations ana wishes wish-es tor many nappy returns of tho day on Thursday, the occasion being tne elghty-fltth anniversary of his birth, Tho annual reunion ot tho family was hold In this city and relatives from Salt Lako on tho south to Pasts, Idaho on tho north, Including over one hundred In all, were in mo city and partook of the festivities prepared prepar-ed In honor of tho occasion. President Budge, to tho youngest member ot the family, were In tho JolUest mocd posslblo and tho day passed off most pleasantly. Uefore going to the family fam-ily residence, a pleasant visit wjj made to tho homo of Dr. T. 11. Dudge, who has been HI ror some time, and from his homo they retired to tho home of President Budge In the rirst ward whero the business meeting whs held and officers for the H ensuing year elected. Thoy wens as follows: Arthur liudgo of Paris, president; pres-ident; Alfred Budgo of Pocatelld and Ezra Budgo of Paris, vice presidents; with Mrs. Julia Nlb'.ey, secretary and tseasurer. A banquet was held In tne Fourta ward amusement hall at one o'cIock at which over ono hundred members of the family, Including child, en, grand and great grand chllaren, were In attendance. At tho banquet, the 5 Misses Margaret and Blanche Budge rendered piano solos and a vocal se t lection was rendered by Miss Rutn 'C' Nlbley. Tho evening as well as the day program passed away most 'pleas antly. From eight to ton o'clock In the evening a program was rendered consisting of music by the temple choir nnd prayer by Elder John E. Carlisle, a toniplo worker. The address ad-dress of welcome was given by Dr. O. H. Budge, followed by -a vocal selection se-lection by Miss Ethel Jensen. Bishop Adolph Bacr of Providence, gave . a talk on 'his early acquaintance with I President Budge and members of tho family. Bishop C. W. Nlbley ajso spoke for a short time. Miss Lydla Fonnesbeck Bang, ana nn address ad-dress was given by President Joseph It. Shepard, of tho Bear Lako stake. A song was rondored by icsslo It. S. Budgo, and tho program was concluded con-cluded by nn address by President Budgo and a vocal boIo by Frank Baugh. Following tho program a dance was given and refreshments served. The waitresses Included the Misses Margaret Mar-garet and Blanche Budge; Rush Budge; Ivaloo, Stratford and Clotele Budgo nnd Iluth Nlbley. President Budgo has had a most eventful enreor. In Idaho, whero ho was president of tho Bear Lake stake of Zlon, he was not only a leader in religious matters, but was a power in a political way for years. Ho served as president of tho stako for about thirty-nvo years, and until ho received a call from tho church" authorities au-thorities to como to Logan and take - the presidency of tho Logan temple. I Prior to going to Bear Lako, ho serv ed as bishop ot tho Providence ward, to which fact tho Providence people always point with much prldo. The family of Prosldent Budge consists of 25 living children, 30 grand children chil-dren and 8 great grand children. Eleven of tho chlldron aro now rest-dents rest-dents of this city. Tho other mem- i hers ot the family llvo In Pccatello 'and Paris. Among his work for tho j church, eleven years were spent as a missionary In Europe, two and n half of which, ho served as president of tho mission. Tho sons or 1'rest dent Budgo havo followed In his footsteps foot-steps when tt comes to making good citizens. Four of them havo perform-ed perform-ed honorable missions In Europo and two have served missions In tho Southern Sou-thern States. Two sons aro gradu ates ot tho law school at Ann Arbor Michigan. Three aro graduates of medical schools and four aro gradu ates from dental schools. He also has two sons-in-law who are practicing practic-ing physicians. President William Budge |
