Show A TRIBUTE , Composed and read by Mrs. E. R. Moench at tho reception given Mrs. Camilla Smith by tho Daughters of tho Pioneers, Friday, November 1, 1912. Wo have met In your honor dear sister and friend, A few words of lovo to express, Our congratulations to you to extend And to wish you continued success. You'vo truly been blessed by our Father and God, And splendid tho work you have done, By your love nnd your zeal In tho Pioneer cause, Tho hearts of your sisters you've won. We are Journeying on toward the end' of life's race, And doing the best that wo know Why not the approval and smiles of our friends, To cheer ub along as wo go. Too often tho tokens of love aro lain by Like tho miser who hoards up his gold, "Till the sensitive spirit has left Its abode, And tho loving hearts lifeless and cold. Tho vaults aro then opened, the treasures brought forth, Such honors what tongue can relate Tho noblo deeds done nnd bright laurels won Aro heralded then but too late. Too lato when llfo's burdens are once cast aside, When tho wearysome Journey Is o'er, Tho love nnd nffectlon for which the heart sighed, Aro needed to cheer them no more. Let U3 rally around the dear friends whllo they live, With lovo smooth tho furrows of care, Lot charity's mantlo defects cover o'er And help them their burdens to bear. Each heart has its sorrow each bosom bo-som Its woo. Each pilgrim must bear his own cross, Our own cross seems blggor when others wo aid, In giving wo suffer no loss. |
