Show The Buckley Mine Starts Work in Gilpin Go., Goto. Ulchard P. Morris, Judge Colburn, i .Noble Warrum, B. T. Lloyd, J. H. i L.etcner of Salt Lake, and J." I. Shep-nru Shep-nru of Richmond, Utah, have recently recent-ly purcnased tbls property and started start-ed a force of men at work. Tho mine Is equipped with a good shaft building, and one of tho best plants in the county, a 100 horse power pow-er hoist, an 80 horse power boiler, air compressor and drills, blacksmith saop, and all necessary tools. In fact, tho plant costing over $60,000 Is In first class shape for a long enmpaign of activity. Tho purpose of tho company com-pany is to clean up the different lov-les lov-les down to tho COO and begin shipping, ship-ping, to do whnt development work necessary and In addition, sfnk tho shaft from 100 to 200 feet. The shaft is now C30 feet, nnd tho size 5x8 feet, ono of tho largest and best timbered shafts in Gilpin county. Tho Buckley Buck-ley today has ono of the strongest and largest known veins of oro In tho county nnd when It was last worked wus n very heavy producer. The property for some tlmo past has been in Probato but now has a clear title. A report Just made on the property prop-erty by a competent and reliable engineer en-gineer was very encouraging to those Interested In the mine. Thirty-two samples were taken 'from that many places In the mine showing nn average aver-age value of 115.40 per ton. Also ten tram cars of ore were taken out which gavo up 2673.48, making an averago of $35.07 per ton, with the values of the best grade of ore from $40.00 to $300.00 to tho ton. Tho train noypruns within 800 feet of the Buckley, with grading dono right to Its door for a switch; the ore is handled automatically and has to be handled by hand but once. There aro now six levels, with' drifts running from 100 to 300 feet on both sides of tho shnft all showing paying ore, and tho ores nt present conditions will net all over $3.90 per ton. A contract has already been let to Mr. Nell McKay to put tho ore to tho mill (until the ties and steel are placed) for $6.00 per cord, and this oro runs 9 ton to the cord. The property Is wired for electric power and lighting. This Bmall county has produced three hundred million dollarB in precious metals and getting better ob depth Is reached. Fifty-five million has been taken out within a rndlus of a few hundred yards; and tho Buckley is located nlmost In the center.
