Show RESERVOIR COMPANY WOULD APPROPRIATE MORE WATER Irrgation of 50,000 Acres Near Salt Lake Object of Project The Provo Reservoir company, by J. R. Murdock, its president, yesterday yester-day replaced a former filing on 300 second-feet of the -waters of Utah, lake by a new filing on 500 feet, and Increased In-creased the land to be irrigated with this water from 30,000 to 50,000 acres, immediately west of Salt Lake. It is the belief of Mr. Murdock that there are 50,000 acres in that section which are capable of being drained and turned into some or the most valuable valu-able farm land in Utah. Its value would lie largely in the proximity to the market of Salt Lake. "We do not own an acre of land in that vicinity," Mr. Murdock said, "but we believe we can furnish this water and furnish it more cheaply than most people can. Announcement of our enterprise, en-terprise, made some few weeks ago, was welcomed heartily by landowners in that region. If they will improve and drain the land, we will furnish the water." The filing contemplates pumping the water out of Utah lake into the Jordan Jor-dan river and taking it from that river by enlarging the existing North Jordan and Brighton and North Point canal systems. |
