Show CANYON ROAD IN BAD SHAPE z Those who have nob traversed Logan Lo-gan canyon since tho river waters were at their highest can not conceive of the great damage dyne the road. In many places the waters have broken over the banks Into the road and for a considerable distance washed terrific ditches. In other places great holes havj been washed out. Two hundred feet this side of the first bridge, above the Telluride power house, a deep hole has caused grief to more than one vehicle, but on Saturday, several men and teams were working In that vicinity, and It is probable that that place has been repaired by this time. A short distance this side of the city power house Is a long stretch of badly washed road, and at a point about two andalulfor three miles this side of the forks there Is an exceedingly bad place- This latter place is dangerous In fact, can not bo passed except by those familiar with the hole. Up the right hand fork are many bad washouts. wash-outs. It will require no end of labor and uulto a sum of money to get tho road Into good condition again. For quite a distance up the canyon tho heavy undergrowth next the roadway road-way has been cut away and travelers now escape the work and worry Incl dent to keeping the swinging branches from slapping them In tho face. This is a spletdld improvement and Is appreciated ap-preciated by every person who goes to the canyon these days. |
