Show 5,000 TONS OF COAL COMING That Logan is going to get at least 5,000 tons of coal seems fairly certain, though of course there's many a slip. . At any rate, J. A. Htindricfcsou showed us yesterday yes-terday a contract calling for 5,-000 5,-000 tons of the black diamonds to be delivered at the rate of about 600 tons a month, and he make the statement that $5,000, or $1.00 a ton, has already been advanced on that quantity. This deal was made on August 7. with an independent coal company com-pany operating at Helper, and the final papers were drawn and money advanced by Mr. Hcnd; rickson, following a visit of the Commercial Clubs' Committee, Mayor Robinson, Pres Ballard, Lqrsen and Hendrickson, to Salt Lako city, and it was! for them and the city and country that ho acted. While the contract calls for the delivery of the coal, there is a slight loop hole left in case of emergency, but Mr. Hendrickson has the word of Mr. Stravell and Ex-Muyor Morris, of Salt Lake, who head theMndcpendent company, com-pany, that they will not permit avoidable emergencies to arise and ho believes avc will get the coal. While en route homo from tho east Mr. Hendrickson saw at Pueblo Pu-eblo an engine duo at Helper, but delayed for weeks. When this is installed there will be f a good sized daily output. Mr. Hendrickson stopped at Helper and went up to tho mine and found threo cars of coal ready for shipment. This coal is really very fine, looks good and is said to burn well. At present the price is $0.00, but is subject to an advance. It is expected that somo of the Helper coal will bo in Logan within the next few doys. |
