Show Little Criticism of Horse Show ii , Prominent Horseman Offers a Word of Praise, a Criticism and Suggestion. The following letter Is self-explanatory, signed by the writer, who Is wholly responsible for tho contents. Tiik ItKPUiiMt'AN' knows nothing of the merit of the criticism contained therein, but does heartily endorse the last suggestion of Mr. Parker, who urges the horsemen to get together for a great horse show next year. The communication reads: v Wkli.svii.lk, .Ian. :il, IDOtl. Editor Thk Kki'Uiilioan: As a stockralser and horse dealer of this county I feel led to make a few statements In regard to our county hoise fair that was held recently and more especially do I feel Inclined to comment upon the judgment of the Judges of that fair, and 1 belice that my experience with tho horse (which has been almost fiom my Infancy) has glcn me stiillclcnt knowledge to mako a fair comparison of the different breeds and make-up of the hoise. I think that as far as the farmers and stockralsers of the county aio concerned, con-cerned, the fair was a grand success. The display was equally as good as one would see In many of our State fairs, and as a careful observer of tho horses that were on exhibition 1 think wo should congiatulato ourselves upon having as good a showing as can be found anywhete In the Union, according accord-ing to the size and extent of our county. coun-ty. I am proud of tho Interest that our farmets aro taking relative to tho Improvement of the horse, and 1 hope that It will continue to grow until It can bo said that tho man or buyer who wants good hoise will have to come to Cache to get them. In fact the sentiment can now bo heard among hoiso bujers thatCache county has the best grado of horses that can bo found In Utah I was highly interested in-terested and pleased with thu untiring untir-ing effoils that Professor Clark, of the A. C, put forth In getting up and arranging the fair as well as ho did and hope that the Interest now shown In regard to the horso will not slacken in any wav. Now, 1 Just wish to say a few words In rcgaid to tho decision ulvcn by the Judges of tho fair, In my opinion, all who arc called to be Judges on occasions occa-sions arc liable to mistakes and still bo honest in their convictions. All Judges aio subject to criticisms, and If they wcie not all other men's opinions opin-ions would be worthless and the public pub-lic would have to submit to any enor that might ho made. While I do not wish to cast any rcllectlons upon the judgment that was given, still 1 belle be-lle ;e that some very grave mistakes were made, especially at the latter end where the award In the giand sweepstakes given over all classes was placed wl ere it was and when I say this I think 1 voice tho sentiments of two-thirds of the people who witnessed witness-ed tho occasion. Now, In conclusion will say to tho farmers and horso breeders that 1 think it would be well to takoup the history of the different breeds of horses and study where they camo from and what It takes to make a perfect horse.
