Statistics and facts about school attendance at-tendance seem to bo looming large in the columns of tho newspaper press nowadays, and ln this connection u Handsworth school seems to have created a record which will probably bo unbroken for sonic time to come. The Education Committco of the Handsworth District Council lias for some yeais recognized meritorious attendance at-tendance by bestowing certificates, but recently they decided to award medals. Nine consecutive years' perfect per-fect and punctual attendance are now rewarded by a gold medal, six years by a silver medal, anil tlirco by a bronze medal. At Wattvillo Street School (Senior Department), which is situated ln a district where there aro many dllllcultlcs in tho way of perfect attendance, two gold medals were earned this year tho deserving recipients re-cipients being Elsie Garrett and Bernard Bern-ard III! six silver medals, and over two hundred book prizes. This is a record of which all concerned havo every right to be proud the headmaster, head-master, Mr. E. II.
