Show BALLARD CHOSEN PRESIDENT Directorate of Cache Commercial Club Names him to succeed Pres. Riter. J. A. Hendrickson is Vice-President, L. S. Cardon, Treas., F. A. Mitchell, Sec. The meeting of the directorate of the Cache Commercial club Monday night for tho election of olllccrs for the ensuing year, selected M. J. Hal-lard Hal-lard as presldcntun the second ballot. Mr. J. A. Hendrickson was named as vice-president on tho tlrst ballot. It took tlve ballots to elect a treasurer, Louis S Cardon winning out. For Secretary and manager, F. A Mitchell was named by acclamation. Little other business of an exceedingly important im-portant nature was transacted. The Detail. The meeting was called to order by Pres. Rlter, newly elected directors qualified and roll call showed the following fol-lowing thirteen of the fifteen directors present: H. F. Rlter, Joel Ricks, Al-Ian Al-Ian M. Fleming, W. K. Hurnham, J. A. Hendrickson, Robert Anderson, H. W. Robinson, Wesley Jacques, Joseph Odell, Louis S. Cardon, Lorenzo Hansen, Han-sen, M. J. Hallard, N. Ralph Moore. Messrs. 1 0. Thoreson and Thomas Smart, the other two members, arc out of tho state. Hefore nominations for new olllccrs vero made, F. K. Ncbeker, retiring director, voiced his good feeling and best wishes for the club, and In turn was tendcied a vote of thanks for his splendid service. Pres. It iter took opportunity at this tlma to decline any nomination and asked that his name be not placed before the directors direct-ors as a candidate for re-election. He urged his excessive business cares as tho reason. The Presidency. Pres. Rlter named Joseph Odell to succeed himself. Mr. Odell expressed the wish that ho be not considered, and In turn nominated Lorenzo Hansen. That gentleman urged his business cares as an impediment, and Insisted that ho bo excused, W. K. Hurnham presented the name of M. J. Hallard, but Mr. Hallard said that to accept meant such a sacrifice that ho could hardly afford to accept and named J. A. Hendrickson as tho fittest man.Tlio directors refused to consider declinations declina-tions and the balloting resulted as follows: Flist Second Odell 1 l Hansen 2 l Hallard........ That gentleman llatly declined, insisted that lie had permitted his namo to be used In the other Instance only through the urging urg-ing of friends but the club shut him off, refused to hear his denials and on the ilrst ballot elected him by a vote of 10 to :i for Hurnham. Treasurership. Tills was a rather spirited contest in its way, good natured, but it took five ballots for any man to secure a majority of ot,es. Wesley Jacques named Robert Anderson An-derson for the position. Loren.o Hansen named A. M. Fleming. Flem-ing. That gentleman said that he preferred to not bo named. Hcappic-elated Hcappic-elated the disposition apparent to make a clean sweep of old olllccrs, thought it was all right and said that lie would dropout. Joel Ricks thought Joseph Odell would be Just the man and named him. Joe tried to decl.lnc but failed. J. A. Hendrickson then named Louis S. Cardon as the best man. Mitchell, present sccre- tary, said that, the salary offered was not cemmsnsurate with the work re-quired re-quired and that he would not care to serve much longer for the amount paid. He was named by acclamation, however, and the salary may be ad-Justed ad-Justed later. Minor Matters. Hy vote Pres. Hallard was authorized authoriz-ed to appoint a committee of three to Join with a council committee to look after the M. & M. Society of the stale which Is supposed to come to Logan .r00 strong about Jan 21. It Is learned that Mr. Hallard has named Lorenzo Hanscn,)W. L Hiiruliam, and N. It. Moore. The board by a vote voiced Its desire de-sire that the funds of the club alternate alter-nate between tho banks of this city yearly. The directorate caq not control con-trol the money, but expressed their desire. On motion of Mr. Robinson, a committee com-mittee was appointed to investigate tho cost of advertising In eastern maga.lncs. Mr. itoblnson and L. S. Caidon were named. Pres. Rlter, a day or so previous to this meeting, named N. R. Moore as tho Club's delegate to tho "Seo America Amer-ica First" conference at Salt Lake beginning be-ginning January 2T Riter to be Hung. Pres. Rlter and the oiliciul.s were tendered a vote of thanko for their elllcient service, and on motion of Mr. Odell, $25 was appiopralted lor the purpose of securing a suitable portrait of Ex-Pres. Rlter to bo hung on the club walls. |
