Show Sketch of James Maurice Thompson James Maurice Thompson was born in Fairfield, Ind., Sept. 9, 1844. His early life was passed in Kentucky and Georgia. He served In the confederate army, and later practiced law In Crawfordsville. From 1885 to 1889 he was state geologist. In 1890 he joined the literary staff of the New York Independent. In-dependent. Mr. Thompson was an expert ex-pert archer, and was fond of all forms of outdoor sport. Among his writings' are "The Witchery of Archery,1 ""Hoo-sier ""Hoo-sier Mosaics," "Songs of Fair. Weather," Weath-er," "By-Ways and Bird-Notes," "The; Story of Louisiana" and "Alice of. Oldj Vincennes." He died '-'recently. Indianapolis In-dianapolis News. ii(! .'I K.V.T'J'T |
