Klondike Miners Throwing Away Thousands Thous-ands of Dollars DaUy. C. S. Hurter, Dominion government metallurgist of Vancouver, is responsible responsi-ble for the statement that among the millions of dollars of Yukon gold brought to him for purchase by the government this season was an abundance abun-dance of-platinum, unknown, to the miners. Hundreds of little nuggets of platinum were mixed with the coarse gold, Mr. Hurter gave it as his opin- ion that the miners of the Yukon were throwing away thousands of dollars' worth of platinum daily. The Dominion Domin-ion government is now sending an expert ex-pert to the Klondike to investigate the matter. . V
