Show Trouble at The Circus. Some little excitement was caused on the B. Y. Campus during dur-ing the visit of the bells A Downs show, through the efforts of citizens to have a side show closed. It is said that during the morning this particular side show gave a most indecent ex-moitiuii, ex-moitiuii, ind protests were made to the city marshal, with the re suit that the proprietors of the show were ordered to modify it Late in the afternoon a number of citizens headed by L. II. Martineau, F. S. Madison and otheis started a movement to have the show closed down en tirely, and after considerable agitation, succeeded in their endeavor. en-deavor. They approached Marshal Mar-shal Crockett, who at first demurred, de-murred, but finally acquiesced, though stating his doubts as to the legal phase or the case. Mr. Martineau entered into a heated colloquy with the Manager of the siiow, and for a time it looked look-ed as though trouble might ensue, en-sue, but the show man proved ! to be a weakling when it came to backing up his statements, as Mr. M. was net at all limited in giving his opinion of the indecency inde-cency of the exhibition. It is Slid that a policeman went so far a to threaten to arrest Mr. Madis: n for stating his emphatic belief that the show shouid be closed. Taken altogether, the 'affair was somewhat exciting f or a time and is yet the occasion J ; of much local discussion. j ' Reports are beginning to come: to light which prove that the show was a most disreputable one from beginning to end. It had several gambling dens in which various irdividuals were mulotei of considerable sums. Certain ic is that public sentiment senti-ment is strongly expressed agaiust these criminal practices, and the next circus that comes will do well to avoid them entirely entire-ly or it may encounter the trouble trou-ble which popular opinion has in store for such evils. As a I general thing, the traveling tent shows that have visited Lo- gan during late years have been clean and orderly and this one came as a surpiise to the order , loving element.
