Show . THE LAWYER'S EASIEST FEE How He Made Money and at the Same Time Pleased a Cranky Faraief Client- "Speaking of fees," saiu the country lawyer, "I well remember the easiest one I ever earned. The trouble began at one of the usual Saturday night auctions,, auc-tions,, when Bill Jones and Abe Smith, who had been at logger heads for some time, began bidding on an old fish crate. The box wasn't worth a (Single dollar, but the bidding ran up, a nickel at a time, until it was finally knocked down to Smith for $3.25. " 'Hold on,' says Jones, 'I bid $3.25 I Smith was home, and I told him that I had come out to look over the buildings, build-ings, as I supposed he wanted to renew re-new the insurance. He said he did so we walked about. I kept my eyes open and pretty soon I saw the flsb box. "'Ha!' I exclaimed, 'the very thing I want!' " 'What's that?' he asked. " 'Why, that box there.' "About two days afterward Jones came into my office. " 'Hello!' said he, 'I've got a job for you. You was down to the auction Saturday and saw me bid on that fish box. I inquired.: in-quired.: "'Well, I gave $3.25 for it, and yon can have it at that figure.' " 'Load it in,' I said, 'and the money's mon-ey's yours.' " 'No, that will be ail right,' I said..
