Tho resignation of J. D. Woodhoiise was again read. Councilor Lewis moved that ho be released fioin tho council, seconded by Conn. (Joodwlu. Ily action of tho council Mr. .Wood-houso .Wood-houso was honorably released, his object being to Jill the position of regular regu-lar police. Tho Mayor Htuted that another councilman coun-cilman was needed, and It was moved and carrlod that a recess of 10 minutes l taken. When again in session Councilor J'ono moved that Matthias Peterson bo elected to fill the position. Councilor Goodwin moved that James Harwood bo elected. Voting on tho candidates and tlio-o voting for each was as follows: For Matthias Peterson Councilors Hone, Austin and Lewis. For James Harwood Councilor Cfoodwlu. Matthias Peterson receiving tho majority, ma-jority, the Mayor announced that he was elected to till tho vacancy in the council. The Recorder was Instructed to liotffy him of the same.
