Show Thanksgiving Proclamation. Proclama-tion. ay the President of tho United States of Ameiicn, A PROCLAMATION. "It has pleased Almighty God tobrlnir our nation in snfety nnd honor through another year. The works of religion and charity have everywhere been manifest. Our country through all its extent has beon blessed with abundant harvest. Labor nnd tho industries of tho people have prospered beyond nil precedent. Ourcomrpercehasspreadover the work1. Our power and Influence in the cause ot freedom and enlightenment havo extended ex-tended over distant seas and lands. The lives of our official representatives and many of of our people in China have been raarvolously preserved. We huve been generally exempt from pestilence and other great calamities and even the tragic visitation which overwhelmed the city of Galveston made evident the sentiments sen-timents of sympathy and Christian char' ity by virtue of which we nre ono united people. Now, therefore, I William McKinley, president of the United States, do hereby here-by appoint nnd set apart Thursday, the 20th ot November next, to be observed ob-served by all the people of the United States, at home, or abroad, aa a day of thanksgiving and praise to him who holds the nations in the hollow of his hand. I recommend that thoy gather in their soverol places o' worship nnd devoutly give him thanks for tho prosperity pros-perity wherewith ho has endowed us, for seed time and harvest, for the valor, devotion and humnnlty of our armies and iiavlen, and for all his benefits to us an individuals and as a patlon; and that they humbly pray for tho con-tinuanca con-tinuanca of his dovlno favor, for concord con-cord and amity with other nations, nnd for the righteousness and peace in all our ways.
