Show Gralinm and Smith. The House Committee that was appointed ap-pointed to Investigate tho Graham and Smith case made the following report Tuesday. : "So your committee concludes: First, neither ot the parties (Postmasters Urahatn and Smith)-are now or have they been under indictment for the crime of polygamy in bo far as your committee is adviied. One of said parties is now under information changing chang-ing him with the crime of being guilty ot polygamous cohabitation, which crime being a misdemeanor can bo law-full; law-full; charged by information in Utah . Laid case lias not becu tried, or in any way determlued by tho court where It ia yet pending. "Second, when both of said parties were appointed, two wltuesuvs testified that the said Graham and Smith hud the repute, which was opened and notorious no-torious in their respective commuuities, of being polygamists. "Third, at tlio tlmo as aforesaid thero were on file, as heroin, set forth, the pn-pors pn-pors herein befoio recited and nothing elso. Tharo was no affidavit ut any time on fi'e with respect to either or botti of said parties. And there id no evidence to show thnt either tho President Presi-dent or Postmaster-General, or nny assistance as-sistance of tho Postmaster-General or any other official connected with tho power of appolutment had any nqtlco or Intimation or any fact or facts In 'his report contained." |
