Show famed ferry to be restored i K t 7 N W 4 12 V wy vt my WW vv TV av w t l M 1 N f 1 ra tv 4 I 1 harold P fabian utah lawyer inspects the antique anti lue head works of the historically famous menor ferry being restored to operation this month as part of a project of preserving western americana ceremonies attended by representatives senta tives of all tho the great press services Ber vices by state and civic officials of western wyoming southern idaho and most of utah were ere scheduled at noon august 20 to mark the restoration of the nationally tio nally famous menor ferry of the snake river at moose wyoming until recently it was the only connection between jackson an and moran wyoming in tho the famed jackson hole country the historic old ferry built in 1892 has been recreated mainly from the original materials which had been preserved and will be put in operation on august 20 the ferry was rebuilt by the jackson hole preset preserve ve inc sponsored by the rockefeller foundation work was under the direction of harold 1 P fabian salt lake city utah managing director of the pres preserve project the project has also restored the old menor a ranch at the ferry feiry and has haa converted it into a museum of western americana much after the fashion of the early eaily americana restorations by henry ford at dearborn michigan the old ferry feny operated for a quarter of a century on flat bottom boats with wire cables a windlass as the anchor and the river as the power the restored ferry the new bridge the menor ranch museum are within a stones throw of the famous chapel of the transfiguration |
