Show from torn where I 1 sit ay y joe marsh RUMMAGING RUBIM AGING through my desk the other day I 1 came across some snapshots of friends of mine made back in 1933 if you dont think time flies if you dont think this worl dever changes you ought to look at the worn ris hats and dresses in those pictures taken 9 years ngot bowl it gave me quite a start and then it set roe me to thinking and remembering remember izel lots of bf things sure happened in 1933 A new administration in washington the tha turning point of the depression and the coming coining of repeal I 1 remember the re legalization of beer it came before repeal when congress amended the old vol stead act to ollow allow legal sale of 3 32 27 beer what talk and arguments they had in those days I 1 one argument I 1 remember well was that beer would do a lot to help bring back prop prosperity te rity I 1 wondered at the time whether that argument could he be proved I 1 thought about boua th thai a again WM thol tha other day I 1 decided to check api upi apt and find out well I 1 found out plenty I 1 found out that legal beer has paid more than 3 billion dollars in taxes since 1933 it has made more than a million now new jobs f according to one of the reports ive seen beer has put more than 15 billion dollars into general busi bus 1 ness circulation goodness Good nesa me a lot of money peer beer is sold today in every state in the union every state benefits from beers beera jobs and taxes and I 1 guess theres no denying that bier beer did do its share in bringing back better times im glad it did too because beer Is such a pleasant appetizing beverage and it stands for moderation and moderate people its not likely to get you in trouble fc |
