Show THE CENTRAL BUILDING As if in answer to the many inquiries we have heard concerning the Central Building comes the word that we may expect excavation to begin about next March The long delay has been un un- avoidable According to the act of the legislature legislature legislature legisla legisla- ture which gave us the new build building ng the money for carrying out the plans was to be raised by bythe bythe bythe the sale of bonds These bonds were to be sold soldat soldat soldat at par and to bear four per cent interest This provision coupled with the scarcity of money has made it impossible to begin operations as soon as we hoped At last however negotiations for the sale of the bonds are under way and will undoubtedly be speedily completed As to the plans for the new building nothing nothing nothing noth noth- ing definite has been decided A number of ideas are under consideration but any decision which has been made is only tentative The report report re reo port that has been published in the town down-town papers is not final and may be radically changed President Kingsbury has been away during the last week atte attending ding conferences i in iii the east He left Saturday October 14 to attend the meet meeting ing of the National Association of State University University University Uni Uni- Presidents This conference required the presence of the President in Minneapolis for for- forthe the greater part of the week weel Before coming back to the University President President dent Kingsbury will be present presen as a representative tive at the Mining Congress held this year in Chicago Although no word has been received from him he is expected back during the early part of the week 4 |
