| Show BIG CROWD GREETS D R G W MAIL TRAIN early sunday morning delegations from chanab kanab panguitch Pan gultch and other southern towns along the line representing the lions and commercial clubs and individuals joined with the citizens of marysvale Marys vale and met tho the D it 0 mall mail and passenger train as it pulled into the station with W whistle blowing and boll bell ringing for the first time in five months on board in ili special coaches were A J cronan representing the D A R G C W and delegations from gunnison Gunn lson salina and richfield accompanied by the band under the leadership of john it hood after much cheering song music and fireworks the crowd followed the band up town where a lively program was given in the picture show house mayor J W robinson of Marys valo appointed mayor frank G martines Martl nes ot of richfield as chairman the program opened with a selection by the band mayor martines Martl nes then introduce ed the following committeemen from tho the various communities all ot of whom had haa worked hard for bettor better mail service and the return of the D it G W john IV robinson of marksville marysvale Marys vale ville milt atilt olsen guy lewis blut V A Malm malmsten ston all of richfield dr harold clarold crandall P F bruhn benj cameron jr and L 0 sargent ot of panguitch Pan gultch gilbert beebe of junction fria fred AT fowler 0 C bowman and willard Mackle prang of chanab kanab cashier 11 II 11 D crandall dr art lewis and max cohen ot of salina and ira Over falt ot of gunnison Gunn lson 11 B crandall tilon then in ili turn introduced mayor martines Martl nes mayor robinson then spoke a few words of welcome after which mayor Al Mar artines lines offered tor for approval resola lations of appreciation tor for the untiring ettote and endeavors of 0 men luen who were not ablo able to lie be present but who had given us wholehearted whole hearted support tor for an earlier and better mall mail service those these resolutions were passed with groat great enthusiasm the men mentioned were congressman don D colton mr air dunn bunn 0 of thy tho postoffice post office department part ment mont at washington D C and wilford danvers chief postal clerk at ogden A J cronin cronan was also included in those these resolutions ad was introduced immediately after reid held cram of kanab rendered a vocal solo assisted at the piano by miss may Alay both dowman bowman also of ka ica nub nab this was followed by speeches by 11 II 13 crandall and 1 I 0 sargent dr harold crandall and mrs lareta lynn ot of panguitch Pan gultch then sang the utah trail by the audience enca mrs lynn at the piano willard Mackle prang than gave a splendid talk on southern utah its resources and possibilities and stressed fact that great responsibility of advertising rested on those who were directly concerned with the welfare ot of this southern country mr cronin then spoke of the faith of ills his company in tho the future of this country and stated that in the near future we of this section need not be ba surprised to see the rails of the D R 0 AV W being boang laid farther south or words to that effect after the program a splendid banquet was served the visitors at the green dragon cafe at which there were more singing music and speeches one could not help but notice the spirit of unity that prevailed among the people of the various districts lot us hope that spirit will always b ba a in evidence and let us all work together tor for tho the betterment of central and southern Utah along route SO 89 in the future as we have in the past |
