Show SOUTHERN UTAH PIONEER DI DIES ES funeral services were held monday afternoon at 2 in the th e south ward chapel tor for mrs louisa E prince who passed away here at her home sunday september 4 of illness incidental to old age louisa evalino leo prince was born october 16 1850 in big cottonwood utah the daughter ot of john D and agatha anti ann woolsey lee her parents moved to cedar city in 1856 and later moved to the or of the black ridge in washington county where they were attempting to build a tort fort but abandoned it and moved to old fort harmony when a forty nuy rain ruined the adobe walls ot of the tort fort they with the tha rest ot of the company ot of settlers moved to new har mony many living in dugouts until homos bomes could be built mrs prince was married january 23 1868 to william prince and in 1871 they moved to panguitch Pan gultch with the second company who alo arme to settle the town mrs prince attend ed the first school ever taught here heo the teachers name was nancy riggs in 1874 they homesteaded homestead ed the well known prince ranch at panguitch Pan gultch lake and spent their summers there until 1901 she an expert at spinning having learned the trade in dixie at an early age she was also rn an r n expert seamstress and in early days made clothing and socks for the old coop co op store she was the mother of twelve children six afar ot of whom proceeded tier her in death she Is survived by her aged husband and the following children joseph 0 and james prince and mrs hilda henrie ot of pan gultch mrs sarah B D hall ot of antl anti mony mm alm mannetta henrie and mrs annap redd hedd ot of provo an adopted daughter mrs eluce ellice cooper ot of pan gultch a half halT brother Arother ammon T D leo lee ot of panguitch Pans forty fortye eight leht grandchildren land and forty tour great grand children garfield Gartl eld county news newa |
